OUR VISION...

J. D. Parker School of Science, Math and Technology, through its commitment to involvement, cooperation and community, is a launchpad for the joy of discovery and learning.

     Hands-on, minds-on instruction gives new meaning and relevance to all areas of our curriculum.

     Parental involvement is a key factor in student success.   Our program reaches out to all families, to encourage their meaningful involvement in their child's education.

     A strict dress-code, frequent parent-teacher communication and high expectations for all students -- behaviorally and academically are key to providing the best learning environment possible.

     J.D. Parker School of Science, Math and Technology offers the strength of tradition, the challenge or innovation, the excitement of change.

CURRICULUM

  • Thematic science units including reading, math and basic skills.

  • Emphasis on communications skills: reading, writing, spelling, speaking and listening.

  • Cooperative learning/ teamwork.

  • Innovative programs at every grade level.

  • A focus on math, science and technology by teachers trained by the National Science Foundation/ Statewide Initiative.

CLASSROOM

  • Multi-media networked computers in each classroom (new for '97-98).

  • Closed Circuit Televisions

  • Internet Access

  • Grade-appropriate software

TECHNOLOGY CENTERS

  • Primary Science and Tech. Labs: (Grade k-2) Computers with age-appropriate software, computer animation, Lego's, simple machines, weather sensors, laser discs.

  • Intermediate Science Lab:  (Grade 3-5) Hands-on approach to biological, chemical, life, earth and environmental sciences.

  • Intermediate Applied Technology Lab:  (Grades3-5) Robotics, lasers, fiberoptics, Auto-Cad, telecommunications.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Teachers selected for academic prowess.

  • Renovated state-of-the-art facilities conducive to learning.

  • Open enrollment on a: 1)First come, first serve basis and 2) Limited enrollment from each elementary school in Martin County.
